Busy mom doesn't bathe her baby, FREAKS everyone out!

Claire Goss of Ashland, Massachusetts is the 32-year-old mother of three children. Recently she wrote, "I really don't bathe my baby" on a blog post for the parenting website Babble. Her youngest, Charlie is 3 months old and lucky to get a bath once a week or once every two weeks. That wasn't the case with her other children. It's just that now that she has three kids, a nightly bath for the baby isn't a priority.

Now, before you get your panties in a bunch, she's not saying she doesn't clean her baby. She does. She wipes down all pertinent areas and also sites info from the Mayo Clinic that says that bathing a baby every day can lead to dry skin. It's true babies have very sensitive skin and washing too often can cause issues. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends bathing babies three times a week after the umbilical cord falls off (before then, you aren't supposed to give them a full bath).

So, as with all things babies and all things mothers, many people are freaking out that Goss doesn't bathe her baby more often. Critics are calling her lazy, gross, dirty. You name it. Her pediatrician is well aware of what is going on and is fine with the baby's hygiene routine.

You know what I think? I think it's no big deal. The baby is 3 months old not 30. If a 30-year-old isn't bathing more than once a week, then I'd rather not be around them. I bet Charlie smells just fine and I'm sure that if he was covered in crusty poop from head to toe his mother would notice and give him a bath and then probably write a blog post about it too.
