Truth be told: Moms need to remember they were young once too
In Stuyvesant Town's playgrounds in New York City, young sunbathing co-eds are outraging local soccer moms and, according to parents, offending the delicate sensibilities of their wee little ones. The weather is heating up and girls just want to get some sun. What are these moms afraid is going to happen? A child is going to see a little side boob and want to eat?
I'm a mom of little girls and I consider myself to be conservative in what I let them see and watch. I try to keep life PG-rated and age-appropriate, but I know that life is life and, as parents we cannot censor everything our kids are exposed to. Our best solution is to raise our children with good moral values and an open mind. We teach by example and there are some things that are just not worth getting all up in arms about, like sunbathing co-eds at the local playground.

Personally, I think this is ridiculous. These young women pay rent, they live in the neighborhood, it's a free country, who are they hurting by lying out in their bikinis?
We take our kids to the beach. Young women are all over the beach in teeny bikinis. What do these mothers want? Do they want two-piece bikinis to be outlawed? Make all bikinis and hot girls illegal? Let's worry about ourselves and our children not whether or not a girl in a bikini is sharing the space with us.
Come on. Let's call this what it is: sour grapes. These soccer moms are being haunted by the ghosts of their summers past. We've been there, done that. We had kids and maybe we don't look quite as fit in our two-piece bikinis as we once did but hey, one day those sunbathing beauties will give birth and get crows feet too. Beauty fades. Let them enjoy it while they have it.
As long as these girls are not wearing crotch-less bikinis, going topless or out right exposing themselves to dads and babies alike, what is the problem? Are we afraid our husbands won't be able to control themselves and will be lured into cheating with a co-ed? Or start touching themselves on the playground?
I don't want my daughters to be ashamed of their bodies. I see nothing wrong with these girls sunbathing at the park. We've gone to the beach and my daughters have never gawked at or ogled or been offended and started crying because of a young girl sunbathing.
These tenants who are complaining that they pay upwards of $3,555 a month for a one-bedroom apartment and deserve to not be exposed to these silly girls sunbathing need to consider the flip-side. The private development also has a contract with NYU that has brought in more than 100 grad students. These students pay the same amount of rent, so why shouldn't they be free to sunbathe?
Security guards have been booting tanners from the lawn after a kids' soccer league complained. More likely, the soccer moms complained. This is completely insane. Why and the world are parents complaining about sunbathers? I've been the co-ed sunbathing and now I am the mom with the kids in the park. Honestly, I might be a little jealous that they have the time to sunbathe and I don't, but not offended and I'm pretty sure my kids could care less. My kids go to the park to play not people watch, that is almost exclusively an adult pastime.
I think these parents demanding that these girls be removed from the park are ridiculous. It's not like the girls are naked or having sex or acting lewd and lascivious, they are only trying to get some damn sun. They are not flashing children or molesting them. These parents are simply over reacting and acting completely CRAZY.
