Although part of me sometimes dreams of having a third child, the truth is that's just pure fantasy. If I was younger, maybe I'd think more seriously about it because I would've liked to have three children. But I started very late, plus my husband and I agreed we would have only two. So I have to make sure I don't get pregnant. But why is it that I have to be the only one who worries about contraceptives in our relationship?

Birth control pills were never a good choice for me because I always forgot to take them or they simply made me sick. I hate condoms so that's out of the question too. In the end, I decided to use an IUD that lasts five years. And while I'm pretty happy with the results, the truth is that although almost nil, I worry a little about its side effects.

So I've been talking to my husband about the possibility of hime getting a vasectomy, but--while this will sounds like a stereortype--like any good Latino man, he doesn't even want to talk about it. Well, I'm lying, he'll talk about it, but only to tell me there's no way he could do that.

And he's not alone. According to Planned Parenthood, about half a million men undergo vasectomies each year in the U.S., but the minority are black or Latino men.

As far as I understand, sexual functioning doesn't change after a vasectomy and when I mentioned this to my husband, all he said was that just like he doesn't understand what it's like to be a woman and what it means to give birth, I'll never understand what it's like to be a man and what it means to have a vasectomy. And he is absolutely right ...

Mine did 24 years ago. I was shocked that he volunteered. We had just had our third girl by c-section. U had to sign an agreement contract with the surgeon. I really wanted more children but he insisted. If was a good decision. So proud of my macho man
