Kylie reacted to the cover on Instagram on Wednesday, June 11, writing: "Wow. i can't believe I'm posting my very own @forbes cover. thank you for this article and the recognition. I'm so blessed to do what i love everyday. i couldn't have dreamt this up!"

The line first started off with Kylie making just lip kits, which were a pack of lipsticks and lip liners, and her fans flocked to the website and the first batch of the products sold out in less than a minute. Since then, there have been hundreds of new products introduced to the makeup line and the mogul doesn't show any sign of slowing down any time soon.

By the time she turns 21, she is set to beat out Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg by becoming the youngest self-made billionaire ever. Scroll through to learn more about Kylie's impressive journey to a billion.

Forbes gave us the details of how Kylie amassed her fortune. 1

Kylie Cosmetics first released their lip kits in November 2015, which consisted of a matching set of liquid lipstick and lip liner. According to Forbes, the company has since sold more than $630 million worth of makeup.

Kylie used her own money to start the company. 3

Kylie told the magazine that she chose to put up her own money, a total of $250,000, so that she could create the line independently. They first started off by creating just 15,000 lip kits, which sold out in less than a minute online.

She had a head start. 4

The term "self-made" usually describes a person who came from nothing and worked their way to the top, so it would be irresponsible to not acknowledge the fact that Kylie comes from an already successful family. The Kardashian-Jenner family began filming Keeping up with the Kardashians when Kylie was just 10 years old and she's been getting paid for being on TV ever since. This is in no way meant to discredit her accomplishments with her business but a way to highlight that she already had an advantage.

Kylie created various forms of income. 5

Kylie Cosmetics is not her only avenue of income. She also has had endorsements with Puma, a clothing line with PacSun and her own spinoff series with E!, Life of Kylie. The income she's gained with those ventures, plus the $800 million from the makeup line bring her net worth close to $900 million.

Kylie turned her insecurities into millions. 6

The Kardashians have found a way to turn their biggest scandals into checks, and Kylie has been no exception. She was heavily criticized for getting lip fillers and later admitted that it was because she was insecure about how small her lips used to be. After spending years overlining her lips to make them appear fuller, she created her very own lip kits. She revealed in July 2018 that she had removed the fillers. Talk about turning lemons into lemonade.

Kylie has heavily relied on social media to grow her brand. 7

Kylie Cosmetics saves millions of dollars in marketing and advertising money by relying on strictly social media to promote the products. Kylie has 111 million Instagram followers, and through it she has been able to reach her costumers who then purchased millions of dollars worth of makeup.

Kylie & Kris Jenner found the perfect formula. 8

Kylie and her mom/manager, Kris Jenner, have maintained costs down within the company by only having seven full-time employees and five part-time. The rest of the work required to create the products is outsourced to different companies, which helps Kylie in the end.

Kylie heavily promoted each launch herself. 9

While some celebrities choose to let marketing companies promote their products, Kylie took to social media to share selfies wearing her products, she did makeup swatches on family and friends and did makeup tutorials for her fans. All of that has clearly paid off.

She started making it more accessible. 10

While exclusivity was part of the Kylie Cosmetics allure since it's only sold online, the makeup mogul found a way to help her products reach more people. Instead of selling the cosmetics with other retailers, she started doing popup shops around the country bringing thousands of people to the stores.

Kylie has teamed up with her family in her business. 11

Kylie has been keeping things fresh with her line by working alongside her famous family members. She's worked with her siblings and created collaborations with them, and even mom, Kris Jenner, had her very own collection appropriately named "Momager."

This is something Kylie sees herself doing "forever." 12

While Forbes reported that the sales for the company have slowly began to decline since its launch, Kylie sees it living on for years to come--long enough to leave it to her daughter, Stormi. "Maybe one day [I'll] pass this on to Stormi, if she's into it," she told the publication about her baby, whom she welcomed in February 2018.
