Pregnant teen killed her own mother
The teenage daughter of a United Airlines flight attendant whose lifeless body was found in the trunk of her car has been charged with murder. Police believe 17-year-old Alyssa Barrett and her boyfriend, 18-year-old Damarius Wren, plotted to kill Barrett's mother because she wanted the teens to abort their unborn baby.

Police found 54-year-old DeCarol Deloney-Cain's body wrapped in plastic in trunk of her car in Gary, Indiana on July 7. According to an affidavit obtained by the Chicago Sun Times, Wren admitted to police that he had bludgeoned and stabbed Deloney-Cain to death, then wrapped her body in plastic bags. Though Wren never indicated Barrett in the murder plot, police soon learned that the teen had a "fragile" relationship with Deloney-Cain, and frequently spoke about stabbing her and hiding her body while she was in foster care.
Their suspicions grew when clerks at a local pawnshop confirmed that Barrett and Wren visited their store soon after Deloney-Cain was reported missing by friends. They described the pair as "normal customers" who "appeared happy and were smiling at each other," according to the affidavit states. Police have since arrested Barrett and charged her with murder and robbery. Both Barrett and Wren are being held without bond.
I can't even begin to wrap my head around how anyone who is that adamant about sustaining the life of their unborn child could then go out and kill another human being. It just doesn't make any sense. What makes even less sense to me is the fact that these kids failed to see that, in taking one person's life, they essentially took their own. They'll never have the life they wanted with their unborn baby. If convicted, they both stand to spend the rest of their lives in jail, away from one each other and their child. And all because she and her mother didn't get along? My gosh! Barrett is 17 years old. In a year or so, she could have moved out and made a life for herself and her baby, away from her mother. Did these kids ever consider that, even for a second? I guess not. But I'm sure they'll have plenty of time to think it over now.
