Justin Ross Harris leaves toddler in carJustin Ross Harris of Georgia was supposed to drop off his 22-month-old child off at daycare before heading to work on Wednesday, but the 34-year-old father forgot. Not only did he forget to drop off the toddler, he forgot that the toddler was even in the car and left the child in car for over seven hours. It was a very hot day with temperatures in the 90s and police estimate that the temperature inside the car could have reached up to 140 degrees. Harris did not realize his tremendous mistake until he was back in the car driving away from work and caught a glimpse of his unresponsive child in the backseat.

When Harris realized what he had done, he pulled into a shopping center, stopped his car straddling two lanes of traffic and started performing CPR on the child, but it was too late.

Witnesses say that he kept repeating, "What have I done, what have I done?"

When police arrived on the scene Harris had to be restrained because he was hysterical and uncooperative. He has since been charged with murder and cruelty to children

I am so sorry that this kind of tragedy has happened yet again. Please parents, let's use this as a reminder to check our cars, not once, but twice. Do things like putting your purse in the back seat so that you are forced to look back there before leaving the car. I know it is hard to believe that you would ever forget a child is traveling with you, but it happens way too often and I really don't want it to happen to you and yours.
