Stupid school terrorizes kids with fake gunman, parents are PISSED!
A North Carolina public school left a bunch of sixth-graders terrified after they had a staff member burst into their classroom dressed as a masked gunman and "rob" them using a toy pistol. If you're thinking, "Why would anyone in their right mind pull a stunt like that on a group of kids?!" that's a very good question. Unfortunately, the answer isn't likely to alleviate any of your concerns.

Apparently, the school said the whole thing was part of an "enrichment" exercise meant to encourage kids to be aware of their surroundings. Um...huh? How in world is bursting into a classroom and scaring the beejezus out of a group of kids going to teach them anything--other than that they should DEFINITELY transfer schools, that is!
Obviously, when the kids went home and told their parents that one of their teachers had put on a mask and held them at (fake) gunpoint that day, their moms and dads freaked. Jeez, didn't see that one coming. I mean, what did school officials think was going to happen? That parents were just going to be like, "Gee honey, that sounds great, now go do your homework?" Please.
The school then tried to backpedal by sending a letter to all of the parents, explaining they wanted to give the students a lesson on "exhibiting good citizenship" and observing what goes on around them. The note went on to say that though the "play-acting caused some initial concerns," the teacher later explained who the "gunman" really was and students then had to discuss what they had witnessed.
"The school system admits--in light of the school shootings making headlines around the country--they should have been more sensitive," the letter read. YOU THINK?!
I want to know who exactly came up with this ridiculous exercise because clearly, they are not in their right mind. Pulling a fake gun on a classroom full of students isn't educational, it's mean and cruel--not to mention, practically an assault! And the fact that the school tried to justify their actions with this lame excuse instead of admitting they messed up and actually apologizing is infuriating.
