Scissor-wielding lunatic goes on rampage but hero dad jumps to action (VIDEO)
A brave dad saved his 18-month-old son from a deranged, scissor-wielding man who attacked five people on Tuesday in New York City's Riverside Park.
According to police, the assailant, Julius James Graham, stabbed five people, including two joggers, a pedestrian, and the father and child, for no apparent reason at around 8 a.m. The dad, 35-year-old James Fayette, and his son, Luke, were apparently playing in the park when he spotted a woman with a slash in her neck, shouting for help. When he tried to yell at Graham to leave her alone, the obviously unhinged man turned his attention to him and his child ... and that's when things got even more terrifying.

As Graham went after them, Fayette used his body as a shield to protect his young child. The toddler suffered a puncture wound to his arm and his dad was stabbed in the abdomen before the scissors snapped in half. Luckily, at that same time, another courageous passerby saw what was going on and intervened.
Thomas Ciriacks, 49, was eventually able to wrestle Graham to the ground. And what he described of the attacker sounds truly frightening. "[He] didn't say a word," Ciriacks said of the suspect. "He was like a zombie ... his eyes were crazy." Ugh, the whole picture just sends shivers down my spine.
Ciriacks was able to pin Graham down until authorities arrived and arrested him. Officials say he left a bloody three-block trail in his wake. He has since been charged with five counts of assault, criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.
Though others suffered wounds to the stomach, neck and back in the attack, none of the five victims' injuries were life-threatening, thank goodness! Still, I can't even begin to think how traumatized and scared they must be. Can you imagine just heading to work or going about your day and then having a lunatic come out of nowhere with scissors?! It's beyond scary to think about.
Thankfully, Fayette and Ciriacks were brave enough to step in to help those around them and eventually put an end to the attack. Who knows how many others would've been injured had they not been there? I'm just relieved to hear that they, the little boy and all of those other innocent victims are going to be OK.
