Very happy ending in the search for a 4-year-old girl who had gone missing in Richmond, California. The little girl, Amieya Renee Stewart, was under the care of her grandmother on Friday when all of a sudden she just disappeared.

Amieya went missing at around 5pm. The house was searched top to bottom by both family and police. Police dogs were brought in and they were also unable to find the girl. Neighbors aided police by scouring the neighborhood until the little girl was found at midnight underneath her grandmother's bed sleeping.

She hadn't been found earlier because she had surrounded herself with items so she wasn't immediately visible. Huge sigh of relief all the way around. Amieya's mother tearfully and apologetically told NBC News Bay Area,

I just want to tell everybody thank you [Amieya] means a lot to me. I'm sorry that she was in here. I feel like we looked for her really, really good and they had the dogs come in and everything. I'm sorry to put everybody through this, but I'm so happy she's okay and that nothing bad happened to her.

I'm pretty sure not one single person could possibly be upset with her for worrying about her missing daughter enough to call the police. I am so happy to hear that the little girl is safe and sound.

Amieya's family say that she loves to hide. Apparently, she is extremely good at it.

I can relate very well to this story! My son who happened to be 4 years old also at the time, did the same exact thing when we were visiting relatives in Florida. He hid under the bed while I was doing laundry to get packed up ready to leave the next day to come home when all of a sudden my 6 year old daughter came in to ask me where her brother was. I figured they were playing hide and seek so I told her I didn't know and to try to find him. After I was done with the laundry, my daughter who was nervous her brother was gone, asked my Dad to help her find him. When he didn't answer or come out when we were calling him I along with everyone else became very scared. My heart felt like it was racing as we were searching everywhere inside and outside. My Dad even took the car to see if he had gone down the sidewalk to play with the neighbor's dog a few houses down. We were about ready to call the police when I found him laying squeezed under the bed with the dust ruffle over him so he wasn't easily noticeable. There wasn't room under the bed since that is where windows and other stuff is kept so I didn't think to look there, but I had checked the room numerous times before. After hugging and kissing him, we had a long talk about playing hide and seek and if he heard adults calling him he needs to come out and tell us where he is. One of my old coworkers at work had a similar incident happen to her too with her 3 year old daughter.
My friend did this when we were younger. She hid in between the cement sacks in the garage...police werent called but it took us awhile to find her. Im glad she was safe!
