6 Latino celebs who support gay marriage (PHOTOS)
With the Supreme Court hearing arguments for and against Prop 8 this week, the topic of gay marriage has once again been pushed to the front and center. Millions of people have taken to social media to express their opinions--and one of the most vocal communities of them all has been Latinos!
In the past few years, there has been a major shift in Latino public opinion on gay marriage, with Hispanics becoming increasingly supportive of the LGBT community. Last year, a Pew form found that for the first time since since conducting its National Survey of Latinos, more Hispanics favored allowing gays and lesbians to marry legally (52 percent) than oppose it (34 percent). ABC News got a similar result after conducting an election exit poll that resulted in 59 percent of Hispanic voters saying they support same-sex marriage.
Personally, I'm thrilled to hear that the community is developing such an open-minded and supportive stance on gay marriage. But I'm also not entirely surprised! The debate over LGBT rights is so prevalent on social media and in pop culture that it's essentially become a part of our everyday lives.
In fact, even celebrities have gotten in on the action. Below, a few famous Latinos who have voiced their support for gay marriage:
The father of two, who officially came out in 2010, is relatively private when it comes to his personal life, but is actively involved in garnering support for the LGBT community. "Supreme Court
