I'll never forget the day my mom quit her amazing job and decided to be a stay-at-home mom. It was one of the hardest decisions of her life and for years I didn't really understand it. But it all finally made sense to me after hearing this recent story about a Staten Island nanny that was caught on surveillance beating a 5-month-old child for refusing to eat her food.

The child's mother, identified only as Mrs. Mardakhaev, started to get suspicious about the nanny so she installed a video camera inside a carbon monoxide detector she had at home. And it looks like her motherly inkling was right because as she watched the live footage from work she saw the nanny, Mamura Nasirova, smack her young daughter three times in the face after the baby refused to take her bottle.

Unfortunately, it doesn't end there. Shortly after smacking the poor infant, the 52-year-old woman began to shake her in her seat and then whack her legs. ¡Dios mío! If you take a careful look at the video footage (see below), you can tell by the child's mouth motions that she was crying.

The child's mother then raced home to find her baby with redness and swelling obviously due to the hits. The nanny was fired and both parents later filed a police report which led to Nasirova's arrest. Nasirova fought with police as they tried to arrest her and is now facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest. She even made her way to the "Nanny Black List" which was put together by a Russian parenting site in Staten Island.

Stories like this make me finally understand why my mom chose to quit her job. It's pretty frightening to leave your child in the care of a stranger. Heck, I'm not sure I'd want to leave my kids with a nanny either! At least we know this nanny won't be able to harm any more babies from now on!
