Some people are just too irresponsible and selfish to be parents. Take 23-year-old Lucy Parra, an Arizona Latina woman who was recently arrested after she abandoned her 6-year-old daughter at a local McDonald's!  What kind of mother does that?

Parra reportedly brought her daughter, Everlyn, to the food chain to buy ice cream but when the girl went out into the parking, the mother's car was no longer there. After about 15 minutes searching for Parra, McDonald's staff members alerted the police. FORTY minutes later, with the officers still on the scene, Parra returned to look for her daughter.

Are you kidding me? She just left her child for almost a full HOUR? That's just horrible. Thankfully, those employees were aware of the child and alerted the authorities to watch out for her, but imagine if they hadn't noticed. I mean, what if the little girl took it upon herself to wander off in search of her mom? Something awful could have happened!

After returning, Parra, who reportedly has a history of drug problems, appeared to be intoxicated and tried to claim that she had never left the parking lot--despite that there were only four cars there at the time!

To make matters worse, police discovered that the mom also has FOUR other kids besides Everlyn, none of whom she actually has custody over (her own mother--the children's grandmother--and their father normally take care of them). They also found that Parra had only been released from another jail just hours before this incident.

Oh my god! What an absolutely terrible mother. I just don't understand people like that. Why would you have five kids if you obviously don't want to take care of them? Instead of selfishly putting her needs ahead of her kids, Parra needs get her act together and go get some help. Though she might not like being kept away from her children, she has to realize that until she solves her own problems, trying to force her way into her kids' lives will only hurt them.

this is truely a sad story about a mother with a serious drug problem and i agree with u she should not have custody of this child eithier at this time...HOWEVER....why did u feel the need to descibe her as a latina womqn....what differenec does it amke what ethnic background she is from...she is a woman...with a problem...ur article would have been just as effective , if not more so if u had refrained from using the racial impication...there r bad mothers within evry race...we all kno this .....her ethnicity did not need to b highlighted.....unprofessional of u if u ask me....

My thoughts exactly, Christina. There was absolutely no need to specify that she was Latina. It bears no relevance. She's a very irresponsible mother who needs to grow up and be there for her 5 children, yes, but her ethnicity has nothing to do with that, and shouldn't have been pointed out. I definitely agree that it was unprofessional.

5 kids at the age of 23, and the one she left is 6...She had babies way too young, it's no wonder she's a less then good mom. She obviously needs help. I feel so bad for that baby girl, she must've been so scared when she realized her mom had just left her. I'm glad the employees were able to keep an eye on her and call the authorities.

I think that to have 5 kids by the time she is 23 and have a drug problem there is something very painful in her past. I hope she gets help and that the kids are kept safe in the meantime.
