Just a little over two weeks after the world was devastated by the Aurora, Colorado, theater shooting, another horrifying killing spree has taken place, this time at a Sikh temple in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Six people were killed after 40-year-old Wade Michael Page allegedly went on a rampage, opening fire on worshippers as they prayed and meditated at the temple.

Page, a man thought to be a former Army veteran and a possible white supremacist, was also shot and killed by police during his attack. Three others were left critically wounded. Though authorities are still searching for a motive, they have called the terrible crime an act of domestic terrorism.  Witnesses have said that Page had never been seen before at the temple, but that it seemed like he had a purpose and knew where he was going.

I honestly can't even believe that this has happened, especially so soon after the Colorado tragedy that took so many lives. I will never be able to comprehend how anyone can commit such horrific acts of violence and the fact that this case seems to be racially and religiously motivated only adds to the shock it all. Racism and prejudice is something that concerns all of us in some way or another and it's heartbreaking to know that a madman (and a war veteran nonetheless!) can act out on innocent people simply because he doesn't agree with what they believe.

I only hope that the members of the temple don't let this terrible incident deter them from their faith and that the community bands together to help them recover. My thoughts and prayers are with them and the families of the victims.
