Apparently, a significant number of women are still measuring their self-worth based on how they look in a bikini and it's really disturbing. During a recent interview, Australian personal trainer Sharny Kieser, who is poised to give birth to her fifth child in July, encouraged mothers to photograph themselves in bikinis after achieving their fitness goals. According to Kieser, these images would serve as motivation so that mothers who worked hard to shed pounds would never again gain excess weight and "let themselves go." Many people rely on counting calories to help them lose weight, but it can get confusing and difficult to keep track of everything you eat in your head. Well, there could soon be an app that will make monitoring calorie intake as simple as pressing a button ... literally.
The app, which is still in its developmental phase, would allow users to get an approximate calorie count of your food simply by snapping a picture of it. It doesn't get any easier than that!
Condsider yourself lucky if you don't know what psoriasis is. I do know what it is because I have it and I would much rather not. The most simple explanation of psoriasis is that it is a skin disease that causes itchy, red, scaly patches. It can happen on any part of your body, but is commonly found on elbows, knees, scalp, and lower back. Mine is on the back of my neck right below my hair line and I can tell you it is unsightly and itches like crazy.
Doctors aren't 100 percent sure, but it is believed to be genetic and caused by the immune system triggering skin cells to produce too quickly so that dead and live cells build up on the skin surface, hence the itchy patches. It is not contagious, there is no cure for it, but there are treatments and one of them is weight loss. Yup, weight loss may help alleviate psoriasis.
I'll be the first to admit I HATE working out when I have my period. In fact, just last week I decided to take an intensive dance/aerobic class with my friend--and boy was I a hot mess! Not only did the constant squatting and jumping up and down worsen my cramps, but I swore I felt my pad shifting during certain moves. While on a whale watching trip for her 22nd birthday she was moved by the admiration that the Coast Guardsmen inspired and it sparked a desire in her to join the military.
