I'm one of those weirdos that LOVES to work out. But I get it, most workouts are boring and even though we all could use a little more fitness in our lives, those 30 minutes at the gym are 30 minutes we could spend on being productive elsewhere. Well for those of you who want to test the theory that laughing burns calories, here are my favorite and funniest workout videos on Youtube.
Alysia Montaño is 28 years old and the woman can run. In fact she's an Olympian known as the "flying flower" because she always wears a lovely flower in her head. She is a five time U.S. national champion and yesterday ran an 800 meter race at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California where she came in last, but still got a standing ovation. Why? Because she happens to be 34 weeks pregnant and it's not everyday you see a pregnant woman run an 800 meter race in just 2 minutes, 32.13 seconds. You guys, she's only six weeks away from her due date and she's running races, how crazy is that?
With summer, there is color, energy and life wherever you go. Yes, you want to look good, but why trap yourself within the four walls of gym when you can get that hot beach body while enjoying the beautiful nature?
Here are 11 very simple ways to burn those pounds this summer without going to the gym:
Next time you want to skip exercising, remember Roni Tarver. The high school agriculture teacher from Fort Worth, Texas, shed 100 pounds off her 5-foot-6 frame by committing to a new fitness regimen centered on Latin-infused dance aerobic classes. The 29-year-old recalls how unhappy she felt with her weight in the fall of 2012, when she weighed 235 pounds, struggled with constant back pain and was plagued with insecurities regarding her appearance. That November, Tarver finally decided to take action, beginning to monitor her caloric intake and to pedal away on a stationary bike at home. And you HAVE to see her now!Continue Reading >
For years, before the start of summer, I'd begin some kind of exercise program and then lose motivation. This time, exercise has become an integral part of who I am and who I want to be! Here's what I've done differently:
A 45-year-old dad from Ohio decided to lose weight after he experienced health problems and realized he could not keep up with his active kids. Matt Manning entered a contest on Bodybuilding.com in hopes of not only losing weight but winning $50,000. In a matter of four months he lost 45 pounds and even earned a six pack that you have to see to believe!
You will NOT recognize him in his after photo...TRUST me.Continue Reading >
I try to live a relatively healthy lifestyle and that includes remaining active by going to the gym. But to be honest, there are days when I don't feel up for a sweat session and would rather just veg out on my couch. Chances are you are guilty of skipping out on the gym too and then end up kicking yourself the next day for not doing so.
However, there is an upside to this which makes it PERFECTLY fine to not hit the gym today!Continue Reading >
Apparently, a significant number of women are still measuring their self-worth based on how they look in a bikini and it's really disturbing. During a recent interview, Australian personal trainer Sharny Kieser, who is poised to give birth to her fifth child in July, encouraged mothers to photograph themselves in bikinis after achieving their fitness goals. According to Kieser, these images would serve as motivation so that mothers who worked hard to shed pounds would never again gain excess weight and "let themselves go." She encouraged the use of bikini glamour shoots for all moms-- including new mothers wanting to get their pre-pregnancy bodies back.Continue Reading >
Many people rely on counting calories to help them lose weight, but it can get confusing and difficult to keep track of everything you eat in your head. Well, there could soon be an app that will make monitoring calorie intake as simple as pressing a button ... literally.
The app, which is still in its developmental phase, would allow users to get an approximate calorie count of your food simply by snapping a picture of it. It doesn't get any easier than that!
Condsider yourself lucky if you don't know what psoriasis is. I do know what it is because I have it and I would much rather not. The most simple explanation of psoriasis is that it is a skin disease that causes itchy, red, scaly patches. It can happen on any part of your body, but is commonly found on elbows, knees, scalp, and lower back. Mine is on the back of my neck right below my hair line and I can tell you it is unsightly and itches like crazy.
Doctors aren't 100 percent sure, but it is believed to be genetic and caused by the immune system triggering skin cells to produce too quickly so that dead and live cells build up on the skin surface, hence the itchy patches. It is not contagious, there is no cure for it, but there are treatments and one of them is weight loss. Yup, weight loss may help alleviate psoriasis.
