Since I gave my children whole grain bread and they liked it, everything involving bread in my family, including French toast, is now multigrain. We all eat better, healthier, with more fiber, and end up more satisfied. This delicious, earthy French toast is a new staple in my kitchen and all my family loves the recipe. Hope you like it!

French toast

Makes 4 servings

8 1/2-inch slices of 9 grain bread
4 eggs, lightly beaten
2/3 cup of skim milk
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 bananas sliced in wheels
8 strawberries sliced
Maple syrup (or artificial sugar free substitute)

In a shallow dish, beat the eggs with the milk and cinnamon. Preheat a skillet over medium heat and put the butter (1-2 tablespoons) to melt. Soak the bread for 30 seconds in the egg, milk and cinnamon mixture, flip and soak for 30 seconds.

Put the slices of bread to cook in butter for 1-2 minutes until golden, flip and cook until brown on both sides.

Serve warm with bananas, strawberries and maple syrup.
