For the 7th day of our 12 Days of Christmas recipes, I'm going to be showing you how to make the perfect arroz con gandules that your entire family is going to love. 

This is a classic Puerto Rican dish that is typically served around the Holidays but is also a big favorite of mine year round. For me, there is really nothing better than sharing a big, delicious dinner with family. Since today is the last day of the year, I can't think of a better thing to do than to share time and great food with family. And, of course, what would be better than sharing this traditional meal around a big table surrounded by your loved ones?

This dish, made mainly with long-grain white rice and pigeon peas, is always a special treat to share with a big group. Personally, I like making it for the whole room and then watching as everyone fills their bellies with my yummy cooking. It's definitely a dish that is best served for special occasions like today.
