Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson are keeping fans up to date after they revealed earlier this week that they had tested positive for the coronavirus. The couple is currently in isolation in Australia, but they seem to be in good spirits. They shared a photo of themselves on Thursday, March 12, to thank everyone for sending their love and support while they recover.

The actors received plenty of messages from famous friends like Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson, Kris Jenner, Gwen Stefani, and more in their post announcing the news. Their sons Colin and Chet Hanks also shared messages with their fans to give them an update on their parents' health.

Tom and Rita shared a selfie with an uplifting message.

The couple posed for a smiling selfie in what looks like a hospital room. "Hello folks. @ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else," Tom captioned the pic on Thursday, March 12. "There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx."

Rita thanked everyone for their prayers and support, and gave them a little gift.

Rita also shared the photo her husband posted with a sweet message: "A little update below to all of you from@tomHanks and myself. So grateful for the outpouring of prayers, love and support. Means so much and strengthens us." She has been taking to her Instagram Stories to share music during what she calls her "Coronavacation" and even created a Spotify playlist with songs she compiled for those who are also in isolation, called "Quarantunes."

Fans were concerned for the couple since they're both 63.

Tom announced on Wednesday, March 11, that he and his wife had contracted the virus while visiting Australia, where he is filming a movie. He shared a photo of a latex glove in a trash can with a message addressing the situation.

"Hello, folks. @ritawilson and I are down here in Australia," he began the caption. "We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive. Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves! Hanx!"

Colin, who is Tom's son from his first marriage to the late Samantha Lewes, released a statement on Instagram regarding the couple's health. "We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from everyone. My parents are receiving excellent care in Australia and are doing well (and in good spirits) given the circumstances," he wrote on Thursday, March 12. "Despite the fact that I'm in LA and haven't seen them in over three weeks, we have been in constant contact and am confident that they will make a full recovery."

Their children have been taking necessary precautions.

Colin shared a post about proper handwashing and reminded people that it's the simplest thing they can do. "Both get the job done. If this is just too hard for you to understand you can do the same thing my kids learned back in the preschool," he captioned the post.

Their son Chet Hanks has also been careful while traveling.

He recently shared a photo of himself at an airport wearing a mask. Chet also shared a video following the news that his parents were in isolation in Australia due to their diagnosis. "What up everyone. Yeah, it's true, my parents got coronavirus. Crazy. They're both down in Australia right now because my dad was shooting a movie down there but I just got off the phone with them. They both are fine; they're not even that sick."

Chet assured fans that his parents weren't worried. "They're not trippin', but they're going through the necessary health precautions," he said in the clip. "I appreciate everyone's concern and the well-wishes, but I think it's all going to be all right, but I appreciate it, and just everybody stay safe out there. Much love."
