Losing a husband is a painful experience, but losing a child at the same time has to be devastating. A source close to the Bryant family has revealed that Vanessa is struggling and "she can hardly keep it together."

Vanessa was with Kobe her entire adult life.

The couple met when she was just 17 years old and had been together for more than 20 years. “Vanessa is completely shocked and heartbroken but is trying to stay as strong as she can in front of her children," a source told Entertainment Tonight. "Vanessa married Kobe when she was 18 and never expected to live her life without him, and that is going to take time."

She is focusing on being there for her girls.

"She has been surrounded by her family and friends but she feels almost numb to everything," the source added. "She is thankful for the outpouring of love her and her family has received and will respond when she’s ready. Right now she’s taking time to be with her girls.”

Vanessa is now taking on the role of being "the strong one" for her family.

A source told People that the 37-year-old mom is "devastated. She can hardly keep it together." The insider added: "She can’t finish a sentence without crying. But she is working very hard to pull it together for the other girls. She now has to be the strong one."

Vanessa has a strong support system around her.

The insider also said Vanessa is leaning on her loved ones for support and "is surrounded by people who love her and love Kobe." The source also noted, "She has a good support system. She is relying on her faith. She is not alone. But she will be grieving this for a very long time."

Because of their past relationship difficulties, the insider noted, "Of course, you can never be prepared for this. Despite their ups and downs, [they] were soulmates. She thought of him as her partner for life.”

There were reports that the couple's eldest daughter had to be hospitalized.

While it has yet to be confirmed, there were reports that Natalia Bryant, the couple's 17-year-old daughter, had to be rushed to the hospital after learning the news that her father and little sister Gianna had died. Natalia reportedly suffers from asthma and was hyperventilating after finding out the heartbreaking news.

Kobe also left behind two little girls.

Vanessa is now the sole parent for their three girls. Natalia is a teenager, but the couple also added daughter Bianka in 2016 and baby Capri in June 2019. Our thoughts are with the Bryant family during this time.
