Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, die in helicopter accident

Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna Bryant have died. The legendary basketball star and his 13-year-old child were confirmed to be aboard a helicopter when it crashed in Calabasas, California, on the morning of Sunday, January 26.

They are survived by his wife, Vanessa, and their three other daughters: Natalia, Bianka, and Capri. The father and daughter were reportedly on the way to a basketball game at his Mamba Sports Academy. Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said there were nine people inside the helicopter--eight passengers and one pilot--and nine bodies were found at the scene. There were no survivors.

The outlet reported that the Oscar winner's private helicopter had crashed in Calabasas while he was aboard. The official cause of the crash is currently under investigation, but fans and celebrities rushed to social media in disbelief to react to the tragic news.

His daughter Gianna was confirmed to be in the helicopter.

Various reports circulated about the other passengers, with some saying that all four daughters were on board. It was later confirmed that his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, was with him and also died in the tragic accident.

The couple have been together since their teenage years and tied the knot in 2001. They welcomed four children together--all girls--during their marriage and seemed to be entering a new stage in their lives after Kobe's retirement from the NBA.
