Demi Lovato is starting 2020 off on the right foot. We're just two weeks into the new year, and the singer has already had two huge announcements regarding her career. The NFL announced on Thursday, January 16, that she will be performing the national anthem at this year's Super Bowl

Super Bowl LIV is scheduled to be played on Sunday, February 2, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The Grammy nominee will be joining other singers before her--like Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson, and Lady Gaga--who have performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the championship game. This marks one of Demi's first returns to the stage after her terrifying health scare in 2018, and it looks like she's kicking things back into gear in a major way.

Demi has been pretty quiet on social media for more than a month.

Demi's Twitter account seems to be run by her team now, and her tweets from the past year seem to have been deleted. In addition to that, in December 2019, she shared a blank post of a black screen and captioned it: "The next time you hear from me, I’ll be singing...."

She kept that promise, and this week she had two major announcements.

The singer has landed the coveted spot at the Super Bowl to sing the national anthem in front of thousands of football fans and millions of viewers at home. The NFL made the announcement via Instagram on Thursday, January 16, writing: "We are excited to announce @ddlovato will help us culminate our 100th season by singing the National Anthem at #SuperBowl LIV on @foxtv 2/2! 🎤 🌴 🏈."

She will also be taking the stage at this year's Grammys.

The Grammy nominee is set to make her awards show return at the 2020 Grammys on Sunday, January 26. "I told you the next time you’d hear from me I’d be singing 😇😝#GRAMMYs @recordingacademy @cbstv," she teased her fans, with her first post since her short hiatus.

It's been a while since we've heard her sing.

Demi is no stranger to singing the "The Star-Spangled Banner," and she has rocked it every time. She left fans in awe when she sang the national anthem before Game 4 of the World Series in October 2015, and we're sure she will do it again in February on the world's biggest stage. Following Demi's performance, fellow Latinas Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are set to bring even more heat to Miami as they are co-headlining the halftime show. The former Disney Channel star hasn't performed since July 2018, when she was hospitalized for an apparent drug overdose and spent some time in a rehabilitation facility.
