Jen was super emotional after hearing the reviews for her movie.
The actress sat down with Hoda Kotb for her Sirius XM show, and the host read her reviews from different publications that said she was poised to get nominated for an Oscar for this role. "I've just been working hard for so long, for my whole life, so it's nice," she said while tearing up. Jen couldn't hold in the excitement, and it's natural for her to feel that after so long. It's a good feeling to feel seen.
"I mean, you know, you work hard your whole life and you wonder if anybody notices in a sense, like, on that level, to be in that conversation," she said. "You have dreams when you're a little girl of being there...and so just to even talk about--we're not even there! Just to talk about it is amazing!"
Not only is there Oscars buzz, but the movie is slated to be a giant box office success.
The actress is no stranger to being part of successful movies, but in recent years her movies haven't had as much of an impact on box office sales. This movie, which has already obtained a 96% approval rate on Rotten Tomatoes, is said to be her box office comeback. Remember that time she had the No. 1 movie and album in the country all in the same week? Jenny from the block is back!
This isn't the first time Jen's acting is deserving of an Oscar nomination.
Jen has been known to be a romantic comedy sweetheart with roles in movies like The Wedding Planner, Monster-in-Law, and Maid in Manhattan. Although those movies were successes, they did not have the same impact as her role in the 1997 movie Selena. Usually biographical dramas like those easily land someone a nomination for the prestigious acting award, like Jamie Foxx in Ray and Will Smith for his role in Ali, but Jen's acting was overlooked at the time.
