It has been about four months since Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. At 4 months old, Archie hasn't been in the world for long at all, but his maternal grandfather, Thomas Markle, feels like it's been WAY too long for them not to have met. Thomas Markle wants to meet his grandson so badly that he gave an interview to The Daily Mail to get the message across because he claims he's been ghosted out of Meghan's life.

The difficulties between Meghan and her father have been going on since May 2018, when he collaborated with British paparazzi. The image outlet reportedly paid him for staged photos of himself at an internet cafe acting like he was doing research for his daughter's wedding. Presumably, the paid publicity photos did not go over well with Meghan, especially after Prince Harry had begged the media to leave Thomas Markle alone. This all went down days before Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding, where Thomas was supposed to walk his daughter down the aisle, even after the whole staged photo incident.

So what exactly is Thomas saying?

Thomas never made it to the wedding because of health issues.

He had two heart attacks and was advised not to travel from his home in Rosarito, Mexico, to the wedding in England. Since then, it appears that Thomas has not been in contact with Meghan and therefore has not had a chance to meet his grandson, Archie. He says: "There was never any problem between Meghan and me until recently. I've stayed quiet because Meghan was pregnant with Archie but I'm speaking out now because they and their PR people are continuing to ghost me out of her life."

He wants a picture of his grandson.

The only pictures Thomas has seen of his grandson are the same ones the general public has seen. He wants something more personal. "I would like them to send me a picture of Archie so I can frame it and put it on my wall beside the one of Meghan," he says. "Isn't that what any grandfather would want? I'd love to know if he's got the famous Markle nose."

He's disappointed Meghan hasn't reached out.

"Of course I'm disappointed not to see Archie," Thomas says. "I had hoped becoming a mother would mellow Meghan and she would reach out." OUCH! Not for nothing Mr. Markle, but maybe saying that Meghan should "mellow" is not the best way to get her to do so.

Meghan and her father haven't always been estranged.

Thomas says: "No father deserves this kind of abuse when he's been that good to his daughter. Ask anyone who knows us both. I've been very kind and generous to my daughter."

He also wants people to know that he didn't disappear from Meghan's life after he divorced her mother. "Everybody thinks I had nothing to do with her after Doria and I divorced. The truth is she lived with me most of the time until she went off to college," he shares.

He has hope for the future.

"I believe all family differences can be resolved and I believe that can still happen for me, Meghan and Harry," says Thomas. "I always hoped that I would be as close to Meghan's child as I was to her when she was a child."

Hopefully, Meghan and her father can work things out. It would be better if they could talk about issues privately, though. Surely having Thomas giving an interview to discuss personal matters isn't helping the situation.
