From Cuban princess to a fairy-tale princess, Camila Cabello will be making her acting debut in a new reimagined version of the classic orphan-to-princess story of Cinderella. Not only will the "Havana" singer be appearing on the big screen for the first time as the new film's star, but she will also be involved with the creation of the movie's music.

The Hollywood Reporter exclusively confirmed on Tuesday, April 9, that the Grammy-nominated singer had signed on for the film. The idea for the modern take on the traditional story came from late-night talk show host James Corden, who will also be producing the project. The plot has yet to be revealed, but it will follow the story of an orphaned girl with an evil stepmother and stepsisters.

This is the former Fifth Harmony member's first acting gig, but she's in great hands. Kay Cannon made her directorial debut with 2018's Blockers. Her first produced screenplay was Pitch Perfect, and she went on to produce the movie's sequels.

No release date has been announced for the project yet, but according to the Hollywood Reporter, "Sony is putting the project on the fast track for production." The Late Late Show With James Corden host has had experience with musicals since early in his career, and he starred in 2014's Into the Woods and created Carpool Karaoke: The Series.

After the news was released, Camila shared her reaction on social media.

She shared a photo from the 1950s Disney film, showing Cinderella with her mouth open in shock. So cute!

Her fans took to social media to also share the excitement.

So many fans were thrilled to hear the news and see that the singer-songwriter will be taking on the new challenge of becoming an actress.
