Cardi shared a personal video with her fans to announce the split.
In the Instagram clip, Cardi says that although it might take a long time to get officially divorced, they're no longer a couple. "I've been trying to work things out with my baby father for a hot minute. And we're really good friends and really good business partners," she said. "Things just haven't been working out between us for a long time. It's nobody's fault, I guess we just grew out of love. We're not together anymore." Yikes!
The former couple share a 4-month-old baby girl.
The "Bodak Yellow" rapper gave birth to Kulture Kiari Cephus on July 10, and she said that's why she'll always have a place in her heart for Offset. "I'm going to always have a lot of love for him because he's my daughter's father," she said in the clip.
Offset reacted to Cardi's video, and he didn't seem happy.
He commented a simple "Y'all won" and fans reacted saying he was placing the blame for their split on her fans.
Earlier this week, a woman on Instagram posted screenshots of an alleged conversation with Offset.
In the text conversation, the Migos rapper appears to try to initiate a threesome between rapper Cuban Doll and another woman. This allegedly took place during his relationship with Cardi. The rapper has faced other cheating allegations in the past, when another woman posted a video of herself in 2017 with the rapper in a hotel room.
Fans laughed at Offset's reaction, saying he practically brought this on himself.
Cardi took him back after several cheating allegations came out against him, and she's even in major legal trouble after a fight took place at a club between Cardi and her team and two dancers. It all started reportedly because she thought that her husband had been romantically involved with the women.
Despite their issues, the couple got married in an intimate ceremony in September 2017 without telling anyone.
The couple, who first began dating in January 2017, secretly wed on September 20, 2017, in Atlanta, Georgia. They got publicly engaged in October 2017 during a concert in Philadelphia and later revealed they had gotten married.
While Cardi is known to share private details of her life with fans, some are skeptical about the breakup.
The couple has had public falling outs on social media in the past, and then were fine just days later. Some fans believe that their split is just a way to promote Offset's upcoming debut solo album, which is being released on Friday, December 14. Another user tweeted that they would be following in Beyoncé and Jay-Z's footsteps and turning their split into a joint album. "Y'all already know how this Cardi/Offset s--t is gonna play out," he wrote. "He’s gonna come out with a song talking bout how he f--ked up, she’ll come out with her version of lemonade called Bacardi or something, then they’ll release a collab album called For The Kulture."
Would someone really fake a breakup just to sell albums?
Some fans believe Cardi is capable of doing so.
