Genesis joined thousands of people from all over the world to run the race.
She shared a photo on Monday, November 5, of herself running and she looks so happy, peaceful and focused. Go, Genesis!
After she was done, she called her dad to share the good news.
After completing the marathon, she did a video call with her dad while wearing her medal. "We did it together, Dad. Lo hicimos juntos, papá @elpumaoficial #nycmarathon #pasos4puma," she captioned the adorable screenshot she shared on Instagram of their conversation.
The actress has been teasing her participation in the marathon on Instagram.
She shared an Instagram photo of her sneakers in October and revealed in the caption that she was doing it to celebrate her dad. "I'm doing this years NYC Marathon on November 4th on behalf of two great causes: Project ALS and in celebration of my father's successful double lung transplant!! I’m excited, terrified and getting whipped into shape," Genesis captioned the post. "One more question, help me out these next thirty days getting ready, will ya? #nycmarathon #nyrr #Pasos4Puma #projectals #genithon."
The family opened up about the singer's health in 2017.
El Puma shared his chronic condition with fans years after his diagnosis. The singer was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2000 but didn't share the news with the public until 2015. He had to undergo a double lung transplant in December 2017.
Geneis released a statement in March to reveal that the transplant had been successful.
The Man on a Ledge star stepped away from social media after her father's surgery. She returned to Instagram three months later to share a letter with fans to thank them for their support and to reveal that her dad's procedure was successful.
The talented father and daughter duo have always been close.
It's no surprise that the actress ran 26 miles through the five boroughs of New York City in honor of her dad. What might be a challenge for some, she saw as an opportunity to celebrate her papá's second lease on life. That's so beautiful and it takes a lot of courage, discipline and physical and mental strength to complete the race and she did it! Congratulations to Genesis and we send the family all the best wishes.
