Chiquis Rivera talks about her reconciliation with her uncle Lupillo

Chiquis Rivera

The Earth stood still this week when Chiquis Rivera and her uncle Lupillo Rivera hugged on Telemundo's Don Francisco Te Invita show that aired this week. It is no secret that the majority of the Riveras don't see eye to eye with Lupillo and have feuded publicly with him for years. They accused him of using Jenni Rivera's death for personal gain, and it wasn't pretty. His relationship with Chiquis has been particularly sticky since then.

It seemed like only divine intervention would bring them together, and it happened in the form of Don Francisco. The host arranged a mini family reunion where it seemed like the duo was finally on good terms. Cameras caught up with Chiquis to see how she is feeling after the show and her responses proved that miracles can happen.

Don Francisco attempted to get all of Pedro Rivera's kids together on the show.

He was only able to get Rosie Rivera and Lupillo, but he got their niece Chiquis to come, which almost made up for Pedro's other sons not being there. According to Lupillo, they all had previous commitments.

Chiquis came onstage and hugged her uncle.

Their embrace looked cold and awkward but Chiquis had nothing but good things to say about Lupillo when Don Francisco grilled her.

Chiquis told Don Francisco that she never had a fight with Lupillo.

They had a disagreement and she doesn’t even remember what it was about. Lupillo interestingly mentioned that they had to feed the gossip shows something, implying that some of the things statements they made in the past were false.

"I love my uncle a lot," Chiquis said. "I obviously have a lot of respect for him. We’re family. We all have disagreements. We are a very large family. The huge difference is that we’re all in the eye of the storm, so to speak. But in reality, I respect my uncle."

Their banter was surprising.

Chiquis and Lupillo even high-fived each other at one point!

It seems like they are still on good terms.

"I think we all have disagreements but my uncle Lupillo and I had already spoken via text," she told Telemundo's Al Rojo Vivo. "But everything went well on Don Francisco [Te Invita]. He looks very happy, very skinny, I don’t know… very happy. I haven’t seen him like this in a long time. I don’t know. I saw a different uncle. It was something very beautiful because we chatted about my relationship and his personal life too.”

Her relationship with Lupillo’s daughters, on the other hand, is a different story.

“I haven’t spoke to them,” Chiquis said. “I think they still owe me an apology. That’s how I feel.”

Chiquis got into a serious altercation with Lupillo's daughters, Ayana and Abigail Rivera, earlier this year.

It all started when Ayana accused her uncle Juan Rivera of using fake pages on social media to attack Lupillo in a TV interview. Chiquis commented on the situation on a red carpet and all hell broke loose. An attempt at a sit down almost turned violent and the cousins took turns hurling insults at each other on social media. Abigail even brought up the nasty rumor that Chiquis had an affair with Esteban Loaiza while he was with Jenni. "At least I didn’t f*** with my mom’s man. At least I didn’t do that,” she said on Instagram Live.

Lupillo has also said hurtful things about Chiquis.

He implied that he believed Chiquis had an affair with Esteban in the past. Lupillo later denied that he was talking about them but Chiquis didn't buy it. He even publicly criticized her potential as an entertainer. "She's just another artist and not special to me as an artist, just another person trying to make it and we wish her the best in the world, for me she's another dime a dozen artist," he said on a red carpet in 2014. Ouch!

Despite years of drama, Chiquis was willing to let bygones be bygones.

Her willingness to forgive is admirable. You can't knock her for that.
