It might seem like Becky G's success came out of nowhere, but the truth is it's been years in the making. At just 21 years old, Becky--who was born Rebbeca Marie Gomez in Inglewood, California--is already a singer, dancer, rapper and actress. The best part is she's nowhere near finished.

While she's been taking over the charts and movie screens all over the world lately, it took the "Mayores" singer a lot of years to get where she is today. She first became interested in show business when she was just a child, as a way to try to help her family. Her love for singing eventually led her to do covers online but it was her rapping skills that truly set her apart from the rest.

She signed a record deal when she was just 16 years old, and while she has yet to release her debut album, many of her songs have already landed on the charts. The Mexican American star has transcended cultures. She has worked with some of the most recognized names in the world of entertainment, and stars like Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull cosigned her early in her career. 

At first, she only did music in English but has now taken over the Latin world with her reggaeton songs. She has since worked with J Balvin, Bad BunnyNatti Natasha and Daddy Yankee. But her music is only a part of what she does. Aside from being a CoverGirl, she also made Latinas everywhere proud when she starred in Power Rangers in 2017 as the Yellow Ranger.

She is now pursuing more acting roles and it's clear that Becky has what it takes to knock down any barrier and can surely become the next big Latina superstar. Becky has been open about her the financial struggles her family faced when she was just a kid. At age 9, Becky used that as fuel to start her career in show business to help her parents.

The well-known producer signed Becky to his Kemosabe Records label after finding her "Otis" cover on YouTube. “There was this crazy determination in her eyes – there was no option – she was definitely going to do it," he said at the ASCAP’s 9th annual “I Create Music” Expo about the singer/rapper. "When I met her, I had no idea she could sing as well, and write, so I was just really blown away."

Although Becky had acted in movies before, her role in Power Rangers was a huge deal since it was her first acting in a feature film. Being on the big screen was always a major goal for her and that dream became a reality when she was cast as Trini, the Yellow Ranger, in the 2017 film.

Becky released her song "Mayores" featuring Bad Bunny. The track peaked at No. 3 on the Hot Latin Songs charts, and quickly put Becky on the map with a whole new demographic of fans.

Becky seemed to grow up overnight for the video for the hit song. Not only that but some people criticized the singer for the lyrics, in which she says she likes older men. The clip currently has more than one billion views on YouTube.
