Demi Lovato is headed to rehab after overdose hospitalization

Demi Lovato is getting the help she needs. The singer will be headed to a treatment center following her stay at the hospital for an overdose. A source revealed to Us Weekly on Thursday, August 3, that Demi "is going straight to rehab after she leaves" the hospital, where she has been for more than a week.

The source also revealed that Demi has reportedly agreed to go to the treatment facility and that she "knows she needs to finally get serious help." The singer has been staying at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after she was found unresponsive in her Los Angeles Hills home by paramedics on Tuesday, July 24. The former Disney Channel star was reportedly revived with an emergency drug called Narcan, which is used to treat narcotics overdoses. A source tells TMZ that the "Tell Me You Love Me" singer that she will be leaving the hospital soon saying that, "She's getting out any day now."

TMZ is also reporting that Demi has agreed to get treatment and that plans for her to go to the facility are already underway. Her family waited until she was feeling better to bring up the idea of rehab. "Her family did not want to upset her with something that might trigger conflict," a source told the outlet.

The "Sorry Not Sorry" singer will be headed straight from Cedars to the live-in rehab facility.

She was dealing with "complications" following the overdose.

TMZ reported that a week after she was taken to the hospital, Demi was still dealing with complications from the overdose. They reported she was "suffering extreme nausea and a high fever, among other things."

Demi has been surrounded by her loved ones.

Her mom and sister have been at the hospital with her and ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama has also been spotted entering the medical center where she's staying. The actor was first spotted there the day after two friends called 9-1-1 to the singer's L.A. home after they believed she needed medical treatment. Us Weekly reported that one of her friends had the Narcan medication at the home "in case something like this happened."

Her family asked for privacy.

It was first reported that Demi had suffered from a heroin overdose. Her publicist released a statement to various outlets, asking people to not speculate about the singer's condition. “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support," the statement read. "Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”
