The couple was so in love that they secretly eloped despite the fact that Selena's father disapproved of their relationship, and remained joined at the hip until she was murdered on March 31, 1995. This is why it should come as no surprise that, even though all of this time has passed, Perez is still grieving her loss. The heartbreaking message he posted on social media on the 23rd anniversary of her death is all of the proof we need.

Chris is no stranger to opening up about Selena.

Who can forget the time he live blogged the Selena movie on Facebook last year? He revealed it was the first time he was able to watch it from start to finish.

He is clearly still not over her, and his latest way of showing how much he still values Selena was so beautiful.

The musician shared this throwback photo of him and Selena on Saturday with a caption that will bring hardcore fans to tears.

His message definitely resonated with his followers.

They left him thousand of comments that show how much this love story still means to Selena's fans.

It is great that Chris has been able to find the silver lining in such a major loss that continues to have an impact on his life.

Chris has definitely been through his fair share of "trials and tribulations" with the Quintanilla family since Selena’s passing.

Chris made headlines when Selena's father took him to court over a TV project.

Chris had plans to turn his book To Selena, With Love into a TV series. But his decision to sign his rights to Selena’s image for entertainment purposes over to Abraham Quintanilla, Jr., shortly after her death put him in a tricky position.

The judge presiding over the case ultimately ruled against Chris, and the news broke the hearts of fans everywhere who were eager to see the project.

Regardless of the drama that goes on behind the scenes, Chris continues to do his part in keeping Selena’s legacy alive.

Over the past two years he has been at the Quintanillas’ side for the unveiling of her wax figure by Madame Tussauds, the world premiere of her makeup collection with MAC Cosmetics, and at the ceremony celebrating the addition of her star to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The latter was not short on controversy. Fans were furious that Chris’ last name was not included on Selena’s star. The backlash was so intense that her sister, Suzette Quintanilla, addressed the situation by stating that the family chose her birth name on Instagram. Chris responded to angry fans on Facebook. "You guys know what last name I would have chosen. But I wasn't even asked about it. So much more that needs to be cleared up," he wrote.

Love truly conquers all.

We know that Chris can absolutely attest to that.
