The true motive behind Yolanda Saldivar's murder of Selena Quintanilla is still unknown

Yolanda Saldivar confesses to original robbery plot that lead to her murdering Selena Quintanilla

It's been 22 years since Selena Quintanilla passed away. On March 31, 1995, the Tejano singer was murdered by her fan club president, Yolanda Saldivar, at the Days Inn Motel in Corpus Christi, Texas. It's a day many of the singer's dear and loyal fans will never forget. But after so many years, folks still don't understand the true motive behind her action. What's interesting though is quite a few outlets are pointing at a supposed interview she did with Univision about the so-called original plot behind the murder. But the truth of that is crazier than you can imagine.

Various outlets, including El Diario, Huffington Post, Vanidades and others, claim that, Saldivar told Univison in an exclusive interview that she never meant to kill Quintanilla. Instead, she claims that she was planning to stage a robbery that went wrong and resulted in Quintanilla's death.

The reports claim that Saldivar said she planned the staged robbery so that she could get away with not having to pay back the $200,000 she had stolen from Quintanilla while managing her boutiques and fan club. The plot went wrong and she fired a gun at Selena that lead to her death.

But Univision claims they have no idea where this theory came from or what interview outlets are referring to. They recently published an article claiming that this interview with Saldivar about her original plot doesn't actually exist. So where did this all come from? Could this be just another conspiracy theory?

I, for one, wouldn't be surprised if these claims are actually true. Even if it is a theory, it would make sense that Saldivar would do something like that because, after all, she did owe Selena Quintanilla tons of money that she stole. She probably had even planned it so that it looked like the so-called robbers also killed Selena. Either way, it's just devastating that she took the young and talented young singer's life like that. It's something Selena Quintanilla's fans will never forget.

Saldivar has a life sentence at the Mountain View prison in Gatersville, Texas for what she did to Quintanilla. Saldivar is going to have sit and live with what she did for the rest of her life.
