Today marks 20 years since the debut of the iconic biopic Selena and we're all still so obsessed with it. The film, which was created to honor and commemorate the Tejano singer's life, was released two years after Selena Quintanilla died on March 31, 1995. Why does she still hold such a special place in our hearts so many years later? For starters, the girl was pretty darn talented. She also had an amazing ability to relate to her fans on so many levels. Here's a look at a few other reasons why Selena will always be the queen--no matter what!

She crossed the language barrier. 1

Despite not being fluent in Spanish, Selena really worked hard to sing and speak in Spanish. It didn't stop her success.

She was born in Texas but did a great job at balancing her Mexican heritage and her American upbringing. And after much success in the Spanish market, Selena worked her way to cross into English.

Selena was only 23 when she passed away but had already accomplished so much, from achieving success in music, crossing over to the English music market, designing her own fashion line, owning a beauty salon, and winning her first Grammy for Best Mexican/American Album in 1993.
