Diego Luna's daughter is hyped about seeing a female lead in new 'Rogue One'
People are calling Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a different kind of Star Wars movie. Unlike the films that came before it, this one has an incredibly diverse cast. The film also stars a female lead, Jyn Erso, played by actress, Felicity Jones. Mexican actor Diego Luna, who plays Captain Cassian Andor in the blockbuster, admits that his 6-year-old daughter, Fiona Luna, is really excited to watch the film. We spoke to him exclusively and here's what he had to say.

At the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story global press conference in San Francisco, Diego shared what makes this installment so unique. "The movie is sending a message that our richness is based on that diversity," said Luna.
Part of that diversity is the female heroine in the movie named, Jyn Erso, who is played by Felicity Jones. She's a fighter and exactly what we've been looking for in a female heroine. Jyn is the kind of character Luna wants his 6-year-old daughter, Fiona, to be able to see more of on the big screen.
"I love the idea of my daughter growing up in a world where she can see films with lead characters like the one Felicity portrayed," Diego expressed. "I want her to see strong female characters that show her there's no limits and that she can get as far as she wants regardless of her gender."
Luna admits that his daughter is already a fan. "My daughter loves that I'm in 'Star Wars' because she got to meet Felicity [Jones]," Diego said. "She loves the strong woman that she's portraying."
He's not leaving behind his 8-year-old son, Jerónimo, who is also a big fan of the sci-fi saga. "The other day I was with my son watching the first 20 minutes [of the film] that they showed in Mexico at a fan-fest," he said in a recent interview.
"When I came out my son turns and says, 'That's you, Dad.' I never thought that I was going to be part of this film and that I would be able to share this with my kid. It's pretty unique," he revealed.
That indeed is something to be happy about. We can only look forward to seeing more films as diverse as this one in the future. May the force be with us all!
