Esteban Loaiza misses Jenni Rivera, suing airline for millions
Jenni Rivera's estranged husband Esteban Loaiza has got some serious balls! The washed up MLB player wants a whopping $35 million from the owners of the plane that crashed and ultimately killed La Diva de la Banda. What?! Pero, por qué why? Well, you're not going to believe this. According to court documents, Loaiza is suing Starwood management because when his estranged wife died on their plane, she took her earning potential and companionship with her. I'm going to let that just sit with you for a second before I rip this guy a new one after the jump.

Can you believe this guy? If memory serves me right, Rivera filed for divorce from Loaiza two months before her untimely death. According to rumors and various stirrings, Rivera suspected that Loaiza had been having an affair with her daughter, Janney "Chiquis" Marin, and so she dumped his behind. Though Chiquis denies having engaged in any sort of hanky-panky with her dear ol' stepdad, she did reveal that she and her mami had been on the outs in the months prior to her death, in part because of those crazy rumors. Last year, Chiquis opened up to Azteca America regarding the whole mess, saying, "There were so many people filling her head with things," she continued. "If there's a problem with someone you should ask them directly, and that's something she didn't do. To this day, my mother, in her heart, thinks I had something with Esteban."
So if Rivera was estranged from her own flesh and blood, it probably stands to reason that she also had zero interest in sharing her life and/or money with Loaiza, tambien. Right? Right. In fact, we, the fans, KNOW Rivera had zero interest in sharing anything with the Loaiza. Like, ever. In her post-mortem memoir Unbreakeable Rivera admitted she hadn't been in love with Loaiza at the time of their marriage, a revelation her daughter confirms. "It wasn't surprising. My mom did appreciate him a lot, but she wasn't in love," Chiquis said about Jenni's feelings on a Mexican television show last August.
Pues, it appears Loaiza hasn't gotten the memo. He is still suing Starwood Management for $25 million in lost future income, $5 mil in past earnings, and $5 million in loss of companionship, which is utterly ridiculous. It's been two years since the singer's untimely death. Do you mean to tell me that he's just now beginning to feel the void Rivera left behind when she passed away, two years ago? I'm not buying it. I think he misses her money and fame.
Rivera died before her divorce from slimy Loaiza was finalized, meaning they were still legally married at the time of her death. However, I don't believe that means he's entitled to reparations. Especially not any related to "loss of companionship." Last summer, Loaiza was arrested in the red zone of Tijuana, allegedly in the company of several prostitutes. Oh, and let's not forget about those rumors alleging he has an illegitimate child somewhere in Mexico. Yeah, seems like he has all the companionship he needs.
