Ever since news broke that he died, the biggest starts in both the soccer and entertainment worlds have turned to social media to pay tribute to La Saeta Rubia, as he was known, and to send condolences to his family. The messages were headed by Real Madrid, the team he helped win five consecutive European Cups; and the Spanish and Argentinian national teams. His death was announced by the soccer club with this message for his fans: "Real Madrid C. F. extends its condolences to madridistas around the world and those who feel with sorrow the loss of the best player of all times."
