Soccer star Hope Solo arrested for beating up her sister & nephew

hope soloU.S. Women's Soccer star and goalkeeper Hope Solo has been arrested and is currently in jail--and you'll never believe why.

Solo lives with her husband, Jerramy Stevens, in Washington state, which is where she plays for the Seattle Reign FC, a professional U.S. soccer women's team. On Saturday morning, Solo was arrested for allegedly assaulting her sister and 17-year-old nephew. Damn, she beat up her own family!

Solo is an Olympic gold medalist who's been playing professional soccer for 14 years. She's played with several U.S. and European pro teams and has helped the U.S. win two medals at the Olympics in 2008 and 2012. She is currently being held without bail after police were called to her house and they saw that her sister and teen nephew had "visible injuries," according to a police report published by the Seattle Times. The soccer star reportedly appeared to be "intoxicated and upset," according to the same police report.

You know, who knows what happened inside that home. Seems to me like alcohol had something to do with it, but I'm sure for Solo to have been arrested and to still be held without bail, the injuries on the sister and teen nephew must have been serious. Her lawyer is claiming that she is actually the "real victim" of what happened. But at this point, no sé.

Oh, and this isn't the first time Solo has been involved in domestic violence disputes. According to reports, in 2012, her then-fiance Stevens was arrested on battery charges the night before their wedding. He promptly left jail and they went ahead and got married anyway.

In any case, this is a crazy scandal for Solo and for U.S. professional soccer. Her team released a statement via Twitter:

With the World Cup in full swing now, even more heat is on Solo and pro fútbol in the States. Let's hope the truth about what happened is revealed soon and Solo gets it together for her sake and her family's!
