Shakira's recent super sexy video with Rihanna stirred up a ton of controversy all over the world, even causing one Colombian councilman to accuse the two of "glorifying lesbianism." Now, the singer (who has so far remained mum about the video other than to thank followers for watching it) is finally responding to his claims--and her reaction is pretty much perfect.

Conservative evangelical Councilman Marco Fidel Ramirez denounced the video on Twitter, calling it "simply disgusting," and even started an online petition in an attempt to get Colombia's national television authority to ban the video altogether.

Shakira, for her part, hadn't spoken out to address the public frenzy…until now. While attending a recent event for her charity Fundación Pies Descalzos in Colombia on Monday, she said she was surprised at how quickly the video started racking up views and even revealed the real reason she decided to work with Rihanna.

"Since [Piqué] doesn't let me do videos with men anymore, I have to make them with women," she joked. Ha! At least she's got a good sense of humor about it all!

And when asked about Ramirez's critique, Shaki didn't hesitate to call him out, saying:

In a country like ours where there are so many needs: a health system that needs to be improved, an education system that needs to be expanded, employment that needs to be generated -- for a councilman to use his voice and his time to talk about a video by an artist like me means we're not doing too well councilman-wise, right?

BAM! Talk about a great comeback! She definitely hit the nail right on the head. There are so many important issues in the world, but this guy is picking on two entertainers out of some misguided homophobia? Please.

Her entire response honestly just makes me love Shakira even more than I already do. Then again, I wouldn't expect any less. As she's proven time and time again, she knows how to handle herself and definitely isn't one to be messed with.
