'The Voice': CeeLo Green confirms he's leaving the show!

The Voice premiere is just days away, marking the return of Shakira and Usher alongside longtime coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. But while NBC confirmed that the two, who first replaced Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green in season 4, would be back this time around months ago, fans have been kept in the dark about which of the six current coaches would return for any future seasons. Will Shakira and Usher keep alternating with Aguilera and Green or will we see a new combination? Well, now we have at least one answer!

While making a recent appearance on Ellen, Green dropped a huge bomb the audience, confirming that he would not be returning to the show--or his big red chair--EVER. WHAT?! Say it ain't so, CeeLo!

"I'm going to continue my relationship with NBC," he told host Ellen Degeneres. "I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year. But yeah, I'm going to miss The Voice too. So I'm not coming back guys."

When a clearly surprised Degeneres asks him to clarify, he confirms, "I'm not coming back at all. I don't want to wear out my welcome there." He later added, "I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven't released an album in four years. I'm almost done with my album."

Wow, I was NOT expecting that! While I'm glad that Green has a ton of other projects he's working on, I gotta admit, I'm gonna miss him on The Voice. Having watched the show since it first started, I can say without a doubt that Green has definitely added a whole lot of personality to it. Sure, he's a little crazy, but he sure is entertaining. Who doesn't crack a grin when you see his crazy outfits? Not to mention, his revolving set of animal friends. Remember Purrfect the cat?

Of course, this also leaves a ton of unanswered questions. Does this mean Usher will be on full-time or will they be bringing on someone new? Or maybe they'll just shuffle around the remaining coaches to fill in whichever seats are available? That could be tricky ... imagine having both Shakira AND Aguilera on one season! The guys wouldn't stand a chance.

While I'm sad to see Green go, I am interested to see what this means for the show in future seasons. In the meantime, I guess we'll have to wait and enjoy season 6!
