Jen Arnold, star of TLC's The Little Couple, has recently opened up about her shocking cancer battle after adopting. Everything seemed to be going well for her and husband, Bill Klein. They had even made a trip to India to pick up their newly adopted 2-year-old daughter, Zoey, who became a little sister to 3-year-old son, Will, who they had adopted earlier this year in China. Things were looking great for this little family while on their trip, until all of a sudden, happniess turned to grave concern ...

Arnold started bleeding and had no idea what had caused it, so she immediately contacted her OB-GYN who recommended she return home to Houston, Texas. It was a very difficult decision to make since she had to leave Bill (who still needed to finalize Zoey's paperwork), their two kids, and the nanny behind.

"My initial thoughts were all about Zoey," Arnolds told PEOPLE. "But then the bleeding got worse and I was feeling light-headed. It was a hard decision, but I had to go home."

Arnold, who works as a neonatologist at Texas Children's hospital wound up being diagnosed with stage 3 choriocarcinoma, a rare cancer that developed because of a non-viable pregnancy she had back in September. Her embryo didn't have a heartbeat and caused a series of complications. How sad is this?

"The one time I get pregnant I get cancer," Arnold said. And it gets worse, because Arnold's uterus wasn't responding to the chemotherapy, doctors had to perform a hysterectomy. Poor thing!

"We wanted to avoid surgery in her case because of her shortened airway and the difficulties she has had in the past with surgeries," said Dr. Concepcion R. Diaz-Arrastia, director of gynecology oncology at Baylor College of Medicine. "But we felt we had no choice. The disease was not responding to chemotherapy."

Battling cancer after welcoming home a new child is definitely not an easy situation. I can't even imagine how heartbroken poor Arnold and her husband must have been after discovering the devastating news. And to think the one time she gets pregnant it lead to cancer. I just hope that the hysterectomy took care of the problem and she doesn't still have cancer in her system or winds up suffering a relapse. Wishing her a speedy recovery!

Arnold's struggle with cancer will be documented on future episodes of The Little Couple (Airing on TLC Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. EST).
