Perez Hilton to bring much-needed diversity to Hollywood with new show, YAY!
Perez Hilton is getting his own show! According to the Hollywood Reporter, the celebrity blogger and new dad is capturing his journey into fatherhood in a new docu-series that revolves around gay fathers. Wow ... just when you think that EVERY kind of reality show has already been made, leave it to Hilton to come up with a new one!

The project, which hasn't been taken to the networks yet, is called Gay Dads of New York and is currently casting. It will follow single dad Perez, who welcomed his son back in February via surrogate, as well as a group of other gay fathers (both married and single) as they take on parenthood. And though some of the producers behind the show are the same brains behind The Real World and Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Hilton insists it won't be your typical reality show. As he describes it:
What is your typical American family like? These days, it looks a lot like mine! I am honored and excited to bring to television a show that will be filled with love, humor and drama. What will it not be? Trashy or boring!
Hmm ... I have to admit, as sick as I am of reality TV shows, I am actually intrigued by this concept. Like I said before, it's not something that's really been done with actual (and not fictional) people and definitely not with a known figure, like Perez. Plus, anytime there's a show that focuses on "non-traditional" individuals--whether it's a gay couple, an interracial family, adoptive kids, etc-- I'm on board! Hey, Hollywood could always use a little more diversity.
