'The Voice': Christina Aguilera & Adam Levine make show history with final steals! (VIDEOS)
The Voice is officially down to its final 20 contestants after last night's knockout rounds! With only a few spot lefts on each team and just two steals—from coaches Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine—on the table, it was time for the vocalists to either go big or go home…and they definitely stepped up to the plate!
With their place in next week's live shows riding on this performance, every contestant seemed to be giving it their all. And two even made Voice history when they swayed Christina and Adam to finally use their steals. So which contestants managed to earn the final steals of the competition?!
The first standout moment of the night came when Team CeeLo's Stephanie Anne Johnson (who was stolen from Aguilera's team during the battle rounds) and Tamara Chauniece went head-to-head. This time around, Stephanie went acoustic, singing Norah Jones "Don't Know Why" while Tamara performed a reggae-style rendition of Alicia Key's "No One." Both Blake and Adam thought Tamara was the winner and CeeLo ended up agreeing, pronouncing her the victor of the round.
But don't count Stephanie out just yet! In an amazing twist, Christina used her steal to save Stephanie once again and keep her in the competition, making it the first time ever in all of the show's seasons for a coach to steal back am artist. Wow! Stephanie sure has luck—and a lot of talent—on her side to somehow stay in the game, despite losing battles twice.
And she and Christina weren't the only ones to make break that record in yesterday's episode. Adam ALSO ended up taking back one of his artists in what ended up being the best knockout of the night, between Team Christina's Matthew Schuler and Will Champlin. Schuler took a risky move, choosing to sing Florence and the Machine's "Cosmic Love." Meanwhile, Champlin decided to take on Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man." Though the rest of the coaches called it a pretty even round, Christina chose to save Schuler—giving Adam the chance to steal Champlin back to his team!
Well, it looks like both artists are back on the teams that they belong on! Now, I just can't wait to see how they and the rest of the contestants will fare in the live shows, which kick off next week.
