Kim Kardashian's old engagement ring sells for more than half a million dollars at auction!
Despite their failed marriage, someone really REALLY wanted Kim Kardashian's hand-me-down engagement ring from ex-husband Kris Humphries. In fact, they paid a pretty penny at a Christie's auction in NYC on Tuesday for the blinged out piece of jewelry. According to reports it initially cost $2 million, but the buyer paid a total of $749,000. Who the heck would want to drop that much money on an engagement ring that ended in divorce?

Supposedly Kim gave Kris the engagement ring back shortly after they split. "Kim has been waiting for the day he would auction it," a source told Us. "Everyone always asked what Kim did with the ring--she silently gave it back over a year ago! And Kris waited until the divorce was final to sell it."And it doesn't look like he sold it just to make a profit either, because apparently a portion of the proceeds will be going towards a charity.
I don't understand why someone would want to be the owner of this Lorraine Schwartz ring. Don't get me wrong-- it's gorgeous! It features a 16.21 rectangular-cut center diamond and 1.8 carat diamonds on the sides. This thing is gnormous! But still, for a piece of jewelry that's technically tainted, that's one whopping price tag!
Who exactly bought this impressive piece of bling, we still don't know. All we know is that that the bidding started at $200,000 and an unknown online buyer won the auction at $620k. The total came up to $749,000 after commission and fees.
Maybe this is Kris' way of getting closure. The dude had hard feelings up until the divorce was finally finalized. I don't really blame the poor guy. He probably had the shortest marriage in history--72 days! Heck if I were him, I would have tried selling this thing for WAY over 2 million dollars. After a failed marriage like that, it's the least he deserves right?
