Sofia Vergara to produce a new TV show for Fox & it sounds hilarious!

Looks like Sofia Vergara is adding yet another item to her ever-growing laundry list of projects. The Modern Family star is returning to her small screen roots--this time in a role behind the camera. According to Deadline, the 41-year-old has signed up to produce a new half-hour comedy for Fox, called Speak American ... and from the description, it definitely sounds like a show that will be worth watching!

Reports say the show will follow American Aviles, a young teacher from a Latin American country who hires a stranger with unconventional methods to help her teach her accent-reduction class. Sounds like a pretty great plot line, right? It's definitely something that Vergara (and many other Latinos) can relate to. And I like that it's really unique--I've never seen a story quite like that on TV before. Plus, anything that is attached to Vergara is sure to be hilarious. I mean, she's the queen of Latina funny ladies!

As for who will be playing American and the rest of cast, no actors have been named just yet. Personally, I would love for Vergara and the other producers to feature some Latino up-and-comers. I think it's about time viewers get to welcome some fresh new faces!

Though clearly the project is still in its very early stages, it certainly sounds like it has like a lot of potential. Plus, I'm confident that Vergara wouldn't take on anything that she doesn't really believe in. After all, this isn't her first time going behind the scenes on the small screen--she is also a producer of ABC's new upcoming drama Killer Women.
