Jenni Rivera's mom: Fighting for her life?

It  hasn't yet been a year since Jenni Rivera's passing and her poor mother, doña Rosa Saavedra, is going through another gruesome experience. I would even call it terrifying. A few weeks ago her throat started feeling weird, sore and dry. Expecting a simple irritation, she went to her doctors in L.A. and didn't receive the best news. I'm so worried for her!

According to Mexican showbiz publication TVyNotas, Doña Rosa revealed in an interview that about a month ago she felt her throat very dry and was feeling pain on and off.  She went to the doctor and they found some growths in her vocal cords. "The doctor told me not to get scared, that they would do a biopsy and send it to the lab," she said. "But nowadays you hear so much about cancer, that you start thinking silly ideas. I want to think that everything is OK."

Doña Rosa said that the procedure had been done three weeks ago in Lakewood, California. "They [the doctors] told me it could also be a thyroid problem, so I don't want to get ahead of myself. Let's wait for the test's results. My children are worried, so are my grandchildren, but we call trust that things are going to be OK," she said. "I pray constantly now. I know God heals everything."

I just find it a little strange that a lab is taking so long to produce the test results, but it may be a sign that there is nothing serious. I certanly hope so. In the meantime, the Rivera family is also busy managing what they call Jenni Rivera's legacy. Besides the tequila, the clothes, and everything else, a miniseries about La Diva de la Banda's life will begin filming in L.A. at the end of this month, starring Mexican actress Itatí Cantoral as Jenni.

Also, former Miss Universe Alicia Machado is saying that she is working with Gregory Nava (the director of the movie Selena) on a biopic about Jenni. Nothing official about this has come out, but if it's true, this is huge. Selena was the role that launched Jennifer Lopez's carreer as a major movie star!
