'Dancing with the Stars': Snooki cha-chas into top 3 & J.Lo supports her "bestie"! (VIDEOS)

Dancing with the Stars kicked off its 17th season last night and things definitely started off with a bang! Though the first night of competition normally brings a lot of nerves and average scores at best, this new crop of celebrity contestants definitely stepped their game up. One couple even got an almost-perfect score! Others, however, didn't take to the dance floor quite as easily.

So who shined and who could be going home? Find out after the jump!

Glee star Amber Riley and partner Derek Hough earned the night's highest scores--three nines, for a total of 27 out of 30. Judge Bruno Tolioni even named her the "tigress of season 17."  Wow, that's pretty impressive for the very first night!

Contestants Corbin Bleu and Elizabeth Berkley and their respective partners tied for second place, each scoring a 24 out of 30. Meanwhile, Jack Osbourne and pro Cheryl Burke came in third with a score of 23 out of 30. I have to admit, I'm definitely surprised by that one. Who knew Jack Osbourne had moves?!

I was of course most curious to see how Latina contestants Snooki and Christina Milian would do ... and I gotta say, they did pretty well, especially considering how early it is in the competition! Snooki tied with Osbourne for third place, also getting a 23 out of 30 with her energetic cha-cha. I think that was probably the perfect first dance for her to learn. She has so much personality, she needs something really upbeat!

Milian tied for fourth, scoring a 22. Given her background as a performer, I was definitely expecting a little more from her, but I think nerves got the best of her. Still, as judge Carrie Ann Inaba pointed out, she is definitely better than she thinks she is and once she gains a little confidence on the floor, I have no doubt she'll do amazingly.

Falling on the lower end of the scoreboard? Leah Remini, Bill Engvall, Keyshawn Johnson, and Bill Nye, who earned last place with a score of 14. All four of them got mixed reactions from the judges. At one point, Tunioli even compared Remini to Miley Cyrus! Yikes ... I would not take that as a compliment.

Still, at least, Remini had some support on hand. Jennifer Lopez, who happens to be one of Remini's best friends, was sitting in the audience, cheering her on. That's right, J.Lo and her beau, Casper Smart, were at DWTS! Hey,  I guess if anyone is qualified to give pointers on dancing, it's Lopez.

Overall, it was definitely one of the best DWTS premieres I've seen yet. Unfortunately, we won't find out who will go home until next week so stay tuned!
