Selena Gomez is officially a big sister! The singer's mom, Mandy Cornett, and stepdad Brian Treefey, welcomed a baby girl into the world on Thursday.

This is the first sibling for the 20-year-old, whose parents got divorced when she was extremely young and grew up as an only child . Aww, how exciting! Having grown up with only one other older female sibling myself, I can--completely biasedly, of course—say that sisters really are the best!

Gomez had previously revealed her joy over the happy announcement on Mother's Day last month, taking to Twitter to write, "Momma and Brian are finally letting me share the news...My mommy's carrying my baby brother or sister :) I'm the happiest girl in the world!"

And she's not the only one whose thrilled with the latest addition to the family. Her longtime friend, Demi Lovato, couldn't hold back her excitement upon hearing news of the birth. "@selenagomez IS A BIG SISTER!!!!!!" she tweeted on Thursday, adding, "Everyone congratulate her and her family!!!!!! #CONGRATSSELENA!!!!"

It's so sweet that Gomez's friends are so excited for her and her family. And though I know Gomez has a way more hectic schedule than most 20-year-olds, I'm sure she can't wait to get spend some time bonding with her new sister. Like I said, I don't have brothers but as a younger sibling myself, there is no relationship that is more special to me than that between me and my older sister.

Plus, given how talented Gomez is and was even as a young child, I wouldn't be surprised if her little sister (there's no word on her name yet) ends up following in her footsteps in the future.
