'The Voice:' Mary Miranda takes on song of Latin icon, Selena! (VIDEOS)
Tonight, The Voice returned for its final round of blind auditions. And as the judges slowly begin filling the last few spots on their team, the competition heated up. All of the contestants gave it their all, but a few definitely caught my eye more than others.
So which were my favorites of the night?
Cuban contestant Mary Miranda took on "Como La Flor," the song of Latin icon Selena. I'm a HUGE Selena fan so I was a little nervous when I first realized her choice, but she did an amazing job. Shakira, Blake and Usher all pushed their buttons and fought for her hard (Shaki even made her cry with her praise!!) but she went with the coach closest to her heart, Shakira.
Jeff Lewis sang an awesome acoustic rendition of Usher's song "You Got It Bad." But though the coaches hesitated for almost the entirety of the performance, Usher, Blake Shelton and Shakira all ended up hitting their buttons for him. As expected, Lewis went with Usher.
Shawna P.'s raspy vocals caught the attention of Shakira and Adam Levine. Both coaches fought hard, with both complimenting the grit in her voice. And though Levine seemed like the more obvious choice, Shakira insistance that she was a rocker at heart must have worked in her favor because Shawna ended up choosing Team Shakira.
The first to turn four chairs around tonight was Sasha Allen, who sang an amazing version of the Dixie Chick's "Not Ready to Make Nice." Levine called her "magic" and Shakira attempted to appeal to her by calling the other guys "animals." Ha, I love when Shaki's competitive side comes out! After a long deliberation, she chose Team Adam.
Ryan Innes sang John Mayer's "Gravity" and got Levine to turn around on his very first note. Levine was quickly followed by Shelton, Shakira and Usher in the second four chair turn-around of the night. All four judges praised him, with Shelton calling it the "most fun" performance of the night and Levine saying he wanted to be a part of his career. Ultimately though, he decided to go with Usher.
After this amazing night of performances, I can't wait to see how tomorrows final round of blind auditions will turn out!
