Well, the Hollywood Foreign Press has ruled again, and for a third year in a row, Sofia Vergara loses the statuette for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture Made for TV for her work on Modern Family, this year to Maggie Smith from Downton Abbey.
Although our girl looked amazing in a black strapless sequined floor-length gown on the Red Carpet, she goes home empty handed once more.

Just 15 minutes into the Golden Globes ceremony (after the funniest opening sequence of an awards show I've ever seen, by the way, thanks to comic geniuses Tina Fey and Amy Poehler!), the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture Made for TV was up, the second award of the night. Among the nominees--Hayden Panettiere for Nashville, Archie Panjabi for The Good Wife, Sarah Paulson for Game Change, Maggie Smith for Downtown Abbey: Season 2, and Sofia for Modern Family--we were all of course rooting for our girl.
However, it wasn't meant to be this year either, and Smith won for her amazing work on the PBS hit series.
Well, hopefully she'll still have fun with her cast--and she'll keep updating her Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram with all those insidery pictures of the show! As she told Natalie Morales on the Red Carpet: "The Golden Globes are a lot of fun because we get to spend time together eating and drinking and seeing all the movie stars and TV stars!"
Stay tuned, though! Maybe Modern Family will snag the Golden Globe and Sofia will get to go on stage to celebrate with all of them, at least!
Update 10:30 p.m.: Oh no! Modern Family lost the Golden Globe to Lena Dunham's Girls. Bueno, there's always next year! In any case, congrats on the nomination Sofia! And make sure you have lots of fun tonight!
