Shakira's boyfriend, Gerard Pique, pulls HUGE pregnancy prank!
I'm a big Shakira fan, so I was super happy when she finally confirmed that she was expecting and have been eagerly awaiting to hear of her baby boy's arrival ever since! That's why I was thrilled when her boyfriend, Gerard Piqué, announced the big news on Facebook and Twitter...and then couldn't help but laugh later on when he revealed that it was all a big prank!
Yesterday, Pique took to social media to announce that their son had just been born. "We are so happy! Thanks to everyone for their messages!" he wrote. Of course, the news caused a flurry of excitement among fans, with Piqué's Facebook page getting flooded with thousands of congratulatory notes.
But, it turns out the joke's on us! Just a few hours ago, Piqué once again made an announcement on Facebook--this time to reveal that the whole thing was actually just a stunt he pulled in honor of the Día de los Santos Inocentes, a celebration in Spain similar to April Fools Day in the US. Wooow....talk about an epic prank! He had everyone fooled...well, almost. Some people seemed to know that he was kidding and were calling him out on his prank before he revealed the truth.

Though I know it's probably not the smartest thing to joke about your baby's birth--particularly while your wife is still pregnant--I couldn't help but chuckle just a little at Piqué's joke. Think about it: if you knew millions of people were following your wife's pregnancy and were awaiting the birth of your child with as much excitement as the actual parents, wouldn't you be kinda tempted to take advantage of it too?
Besides, one thing's for sure. Once the baby is really born (the little guy is reportedly due in mid-January), he will be very well taken care of. In fact, according to the European Union of Association Footbal, the happy couple even wants to make their baby an FC Barcelona member immediately after his birth. Like father, like son!
