Penelope Cruz tries to breastfeed a baby that isn't hers (VIDEO)
In a powerful trailer for her new movie Twice Born, Penélope Cruz attempts to breastfeed a surrogate baby. The movie follows the heartbreaking story of a single mother who comes back to Sarajevo with her surrogate son and relives the past with her ex and the boy's father, played by Emile Hirsch, who died in the Bosnian conflict years ago. The most interesting part, though, is just what Penélope said about the breastfeeding scenes.
Of course, Penélope is already mami to son Leo with husband Javier Bardem, but that didn't stop her from bonding with some of the babies that they filmed for the powerful scene in Twice Born. She told The Guardian, as reported by the U.K. Daily Mail:
Some of these babies were only a week old. And so they were smelling me and that made them want to eat. But I was playing a woman who couldn't feed because she hadn't given birth! That created a very strange but alive dynamic between me and those babies. You cannot learn something like that. And this film is full of moments that could not be planned.
Isn't that just the sweetest thing? I'm really in love with the trailer for this movie and the obvious connection that Penelope had with the other people in the cast (breastfeeding babies, included!). I mean, she even called the movie "an homage to motherhood." That definitely sounds like something I'd love to see!
