Grammy nominations inexplicably snub almost all our fave Latino musicians

This year's Grammy nominees have officially been announced! As a huge music lover and an awards show junkie, I was pretty excited to see which of my favorite artists would receive the big honor. And though I was happy to see many fantastic musicians (including some Latino ones!) get some deserved recognition, I was also really surprised to see that a few MAJOR artists got snubbed.

So who made the cut?

R&B artist Miguel got an astounding FIVE nominations for his single "Adorn" and his album Kaleidoscope Dream, as well on a collaboration with other artists. Esperanza Spalding was also nominated for Best Jazz Vocal Album for her CD Radio Music Society. But unfortunately, those were the only two Latin artists who were nominated in the general categories.

Several other big-name Latinos, like Juanes, Jesse y Joy, and Fonseca were nominated for Best Latin Pop Album, and Romeo Santos was nominated for Best Tropical Latin Album. Still, I was pretty disappointed  to see that some of the more mainstream Latin artists that rule the pop charts have gotten totally ignored!

I mean, Pitbull was EVERYWHERE this year and yet no nomination? Same goes for Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, and even younger singers, like Demi Lovato. You can't go anywhere these days without hearing one of their songs, so it seems really strange to me that they received not even one nod--especially because almost all of our artists who were nominated seem to have been relegated to the "Latin" categories only and not the broader ones, despite their popularity.

I hope that, at the very least, some of these artists will get a chance to perform at the Grammys. After all, regardless of their lack of recognition, I think one thing we can all agree is that they all know how to put on a show!
